Our Approach
We take a custom and personal approach to every development and design project. By creating sites from scratch instead of templates, canned designs, or pre-generated designs, we insure that your site will be original, creative and most importantly, suit your specific needs. Using the latest web technology as well as the proven standards, TECHtotal will ensure that your web site functions efficiently for your target audience. Sites will always be optimized for quick downloads as well as be supported across all platforms and browsers.
The Process
Typically, the development of the original artwork or "graphics" is where the time and expense goes. Coding, programming and special applications can also significantly add to the cost. We can implement several types of technologies and custom applications, such as DATABASES, DHTML, JAVA, JAVASCRIPT, COOKIES, VB, E-Commerce, Streaming Media, and others. We will need to determine your needs, if any, for these special applications. Upon a written agreement and a 50% commencing payment, we take your information and create two "comps" (examples of the design and layout). You then decide which of the two you prefer, add additional changes or wishes and the construction begins. We will put together a flow chart outlining how all of your site will connect, page by page so you know exactly how it will look and work when it is all done. You will need to provide us all of the content (written content, and images.) The preferred way for you to do this is in electronic format (Word document "DOC", generic text "TXT", RTF, JPG, GIF, TIFF, etc.) Email is a good method of communication for these types of transfers. If you are unable to send us the electronic files, we can scan your pictures and documents for an additional fee.
The Cost
The size, content, custom applications, and complexity of the design, all effect the cost of creating a web site. Our average web site total cost is around $1,500, though we have done some for $500 and others for quite a bit more. We encourage you to look around and compare. You may find a few small shops that will "create" a web site for a flat low rate, along with a long term commitment to host your site at a high rate. Some others may try to impress you with an over-kill of animations, which tell more about the age of the programmer than about the level of customers you are trying to reach. In today's high-tech world, your business is now judged by your web site, not by your office, brochures or employees. If your web site is to represent your company, and be the first impression to your customers, you probably don't want to have it done half-way. Just like most other things... you get what you pay for!
